"It all began with such good intentions. It always does."
Naimos Ule'Rian

Nirewyen, the Shen Empire is built upon a byzantine web of infiltrators, spies, and secret organizations spread all over the world. These are known collectively as the Shakariun and they are what keeps the vestigial empire intact after thousands of years.
The most secretive branch of the organisation is by far the Order of Guardians. Ironically, it's also the most well known.

The history of the Guardians precedes written record. The order is a thing of legend even amongst the higher castes of the Shen. They keep their own council and rarely share anything with outsiders.
Tales about them range from angelic heroes who descend from the sky to save mortals from evil to the very opposite, demonic overlords corrupting everything in their wake.

Naimos was a Guardian of Berr Ytír, the last chapter maintained beyond the Border Mountains, on the northern edge of Velanir. The chapter's destruction came about half a century ago and would have marked a great victory for the Taedron had it not cost the realm so many lives and left the borders weakened before the First Ones' retaliation.

Since then he vanished from the sight of everyone. While the Taedron doesn't even know he exists, the Shakariun catches a glimpse of him every now and then, acting on his own initiative, pulling strings and arranging events within the Nordlands. To what purpose, no one can say.
The past five decades saw him become a myth. Several, in fact. That not much is known about him beyond his continued existence only adds to his mystique.

For fifty years the rogue Guardian was left to his own devices, not once attempting to make contact with his order.

His sudden reappearance at the gates of Uldaria is surely a sign something terrible happened. Or is about to happen.
