Julien's life has been defined by the gruesome experience that was his childhood.
He was but a few years old during the time his father was forging a name for the Berrada. He tasted the life of soldiers, refugees and bandits early. He did not like any of them.

By the time the war was over, Julien could no longer enjoy life like other children. His grandparents were dead, his father weary of battle, his mother burdened with his unborn sister. And even though he saw the legendary Black Bear being born, he saw all too well what the struggle had cost his father.

For a while he hoped but as he saw Sedric grow older and more bitter with the world Julien realized how the "glorious" ways of the Velaniri sapped its people of who they were. The young prince decided he hated the lawless chaos of the Northlands. He became a visionary aiming to change Velanir from a loose collection of savage families into an ordered kingdom free of constant strife.

Arrogant as he may be, Julien holds great respect for his father and loves his siblings and family. After all, it is for his son he wishes to make the world a better place.

Biding his time for when he will be the one they call Lord of Lórieth, he continues building connections in secret and hiding his plans from prying eyes.
