The Lord of Hiquelar was born into a priviliged position. The white mountain banner of House Byelweril has flown atop the colossal tower fortress for eight generations before him. A high accomplishment for any Nord noble family.

Ethandil showed his ambition early on. He lead his father's forces into battle many times and won daring victories. In his later years however Duke Yirilen's strength abandoned him and he lost considerable influence. But when Ethandil's time had come he was quick to recover his rightful lands and even expand the duchy's borders. His web of alliances made him a lord of unparalelled power in Nordael and when he demanded a seat in the Taedron, the kingdom's ruling council, the high lords could not deny him.

The new Duke became a favourite of the people both common and high. He listened to the smallfolk's pleas from around the realm and made sure his allies were treated fairly.

Clearly, his influence spreads far beyond his own lands. But such power brings envious enemies. It is said the other members of the Taedron see him as a threat, a potential insurgent who might stake a claim to the long empty position of kyar.
Many of lower standing would not object to him sitting the throne.

Ethandil's ambition surely wouldn't stand in his way should he have such plans. But the path to the kyar's crown is one paved with death and blood. A dangerous path that requires great care to walk on.
